The President of Niger Republic Condole the Family of Ambush Victims at Mali-Niger Border

A joint patrol of the Defense and Security Forces and American partners in the Mali-Niger border area fell into an ambush by terrorists aboard a dozen vehicles and about twenty motorcycles at the height of the village of Tongo-Tongo, about 80 km north-west of Ouallam.
After intense fighting in which the elements of the joint patrol demonstrated exemplary courage and combatively. The President of the Republic, the Head of State, the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces and the Government, express their deepest condolences to the families of the disappeared and wish a speedy recovery to the wounded.
They reiterate their firm support and encouragement to all the Defense Forces and Security Forces in their mission to defend the integrity of the national territory and to the strategic partners for their constant support for peace and stability in the sub region.
